North CrestWood, smoke & the cold-weather harvest
We cook what northern growers, fishers and foragers bring in each week, mostly over an open oak hearth. Dishes are made for sharing and the wine list is kept short.
From the kitchen
Four habits run through every service. They explain what we cook and why the menu keeps changing.
Produce
Bought weeklyThe menu is written after the deliveries arrive, not before. When a crop ends, the dish ends with it.
The hearth
Oak & emberMost mains spend time over live fire. Some are grilled hard and fast, others roast slowly in the embers.
The cellar
A short listWines from small producers in cooler regions, plus cider and alcohol-free pairings made in house.
The bakery
Every morningRye and wheat sourdough is baked before lunch. What doesn't go out for service goes into the crumbs and puddings.
Hours & service
Last tables are seated an hour before close. The bar counter stays open for walk-ins every evening.

Visiting questions
How do I change or cancel?
Reply to your confirmation email at least 24 hours before your table and we'll move or release it. Short notice is fine for smaller parties. Please let us know so someone else can have the seats.
Is there a dress code?
No. Come as you are. The dining room is relaxed, and the hearth keeps it warm even in midwinter.
Can you handle serious allergies?
We cook every dish to order and can remove most allergens. We do use nuts, gluten and shellfish in the kitchen, so tell us when you book and the chef will talk you through what's safe.
Are children welcome?
Yes, at weekend lunch and early dinner in particular. We have high chairs and can make smaller, plainer versions of most dishes.
Can I bring my own wine?
Yes, one bottle per couple on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A modest corkage fee applies, and our team will happily open and serve it.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes. Mention it in the request form or ask at the bar. Vouchers can cover a set amount or a private dining menu.
